Welcome to Poppee’s Toffee
I grew up in California in the 1950’s. My mom, Irene, and my aunt, Sonja (Poppee), were identical twins. They loved Christmas and I have wonderful memories of going with my mom and my aunt to pick out our Christmas trees. One Christmas Poppee had three trees in the Living Room!
They both loved to cook, especially for parties. Every year Poppee would make her English Toffee for her holiday party in December. I remember looking forward all year for Christmas so I’d get to taste her toffee once again. For me the first bite is heavenly and still takes me back to those days when I’d anxiously wait for Poppee to let me have the first piece. When all of her guests were gone, so was her toffee!
When Poppee passed away in 2002 I inherited her recipes, including her English Toffee recipe. However, after reading the instructions I was afraid to try it because it involved using a candy thermometer, a tool I was unfamiliar with and intimidated by. I eventually overcame my fear and Poppee’s Toffee was born.
My toffee is made in small batches, using only the finest quality ingredients including sweet creamery butter, milk chocolate and toasted almonds.
My toffee is packed in round, black, eco-friendly tins. Please re-use or recycle.
I am grateful for the opportunity to sell my confections and will be donating a portion of my profits to Pink Lotus Petals, a Los Angeles based nonprofit, which provides free screening, diagnosis, and treatment for women who are medically uninsured and unable to pay for care on their own due to financial hardship, socio-economic circumstances and other emergencies.
